Save Money, Live Naked

Saving money is a side effect to being naked? Sure, save-money-naked there are plenty of reasons to live, play, and stay naked… but saving money? If you’re new to the nudist / naturist lifestyle, you may not have realized that you may also be saving money by becoming a naturist. So let’s take a look, shall we?

When you don’t wear clothes, you don’t do as much laundry. I think we can all agree on that much, right? I’ve seen a variety of figures as to how much each load of laundry costs, but let’s say that you’re environmentally conscious and don’t use hot water and only use cold water for all of your laundry.  Let’s plug some numbers into this handy dandy laundry calculator I found. Assuming that we’re using a name brand detergent (50 cents per load) with a front loading washer at $10 per 1,000 gallons of cold water only, that’s roughly $1.15 per load at 15 cents per kilowatt-hour.

According to the EPA, the average American household does approximately 400 loads of laundry per year.  So let’s just stay that we stay naked 10 percent of the time… if that cuts out approximately 40 loads of laundry per year at $1.15 per load, that’s a savings of $46 per year in laundry costs alone.

But wait! There’s more!

Think about the settings on your thermostat for just a moment.  You know, that thing on the wall that most of us never even think about? The US Department of Energy says that heating and cooling typically eat up 43 percent of your utility bill every month.  Are you wearing sweatpants around your house in the middle of summer? What about shorts?  Just your underwear?  Just as you can layer up to keep warm in winter, you can also strip off those layers to keep cooler in summer.

If the average electric bill is indeed $110, that’s $47.30 every month that the average homeowner is spending on heating or cooling that space.  Simply shedding your clothes, one should easily be able to save an additional $10 per month by going au naturel.

Of course there are plenty of other ways to save money as well, but if you’re only now considering the naked lifestyle, why not join us and give it a try?
